The Process Changed September 11, 2026
Vietnam's participation in the Hague Apostille Convention simplifies authentication for eligible public documents exchanged with participating countries. In qualifying cases, the apostille replaces the former multistep consular-legalization chain. Translation, filing, registration, or receiving-agency requirements may still apply.

- You approve the written scope, estimated timing, fees, shipping method, and any mobile service requested.
- NGIT coordinates submission, provides status communication, and arranges tracked return or local delivery as quoted.

Texas vital records, court records, school records, and properly notarized private documents generally follow the Texas Secretary of State path. Government fee: currently $15/document.
FBI background checks and documents signed by federal officials generally follow the U.S. Department of State path. Processing times and requirements differ and are quoted separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Vietnam's Apostille Convention participation took effect September 11, 2026. The apostille process applies between Vietnam and Convention partners for which the Convention is in force, subject to the type of public document and the receiving authority's requirements.
No. The issuing authority, document type, destination, and receiving-agency instructions determine the correct path. NGIT begins with a document review.
Possibly. An apostille authenticates the public signature or seal; it does not translate the document. Ask the receiving organization whether a Vietnamese translation or other filing step is required.
Yes. Subject to document review. Texas and federal documents follow different government processing paths and may have different timing and fees.
Often an original or properly certified copy is required. Do not alter or notarize a government-issued record unless the issuing or receiving authority specifically directs you to do so.
Timing depends on the issuing authority, government processing, shipping, document readiness, and any translation or receiving-agency requirement. NGIT provides an estimate after review but cannot guarantee government turnaround.
No provider can control a receiving authority. NGIT coordinates the authentication process and helps reduce avoidable errors; the receiving organization makes the final acceptance decision.
No. When needed, clients may be referred to an attorney or qualified translation professional.
